Need job help but don’t know where to turn?  Let Calvert Library be your destination!

Whether you’re hoping to increase your comfort on a computer, sharpen your interviewing skills, boost your resume, learn how to apply for a position online, or search for jobs, Calvert Library has a wide array of services that can help you achieve your goals.

Calvert librarians offer regular computer classes at all library branch locations that cover the following topics: using the mouse and keyboard, using email and Microsoft Word, navigating the internet, and looking for jobs with the help of online resources.  Check your local library’s calendar to see what classes you might be interested in.  Not able to make it to a scheduled class?  No problem!  Call your local library to sign up for a free one-on-one session with a librarian that will focus on whichever computer subject you need the most help with.

Throughout the months of May, June, and July, Calvert Library Prince Frederick will be hosting job counselors Sandra Holler and Rich Ball to lead workshops for interested customers.  Sandra Holler, a local mediator and job counselor, works with small groups to talk about how to make a strong cover letter and resume.  Ms. Holler is available for appointments from 1-3pm on Thursday, May 2, May 23, June 6, and June 20.  Registration is required.  Rich Ball, a human relations professional from Microsoft, will be leading workshops on job interview skills, which he will conduct in a one-on-one setting.  Mr. Ball’s workshops will take place at 9, 10, and 11am on Saturday, May 11, June 1, June 15, July 6, and July 20.  Registration is required.

Calvert Library Prince Frederick will also have the JobSource Mobile Career Center onsite on Wednesday, May 8, from 1-4pm.  This 38 ft. mobile center is run by Southern Maryland JobSource and features 11 computer workstations, internet access, audio visual and broadcasting capabilities, Smart Board instructional technology, and workforce applications.  For more information about what the MCC can do for you, visit Southern Maryland JobSource’s website: http://www.tccsmd.org/.
