Title IX Panel on June 25th

Dear Calvert County Leader,

I am writing to invite you and members of your organization to join the Calvert County Commission for Women and Calvert Library next Monday night (June 25th) for a panel discussion in honor of the 40th Anniversary of Title IX. Title IX is the 1972 law guaranteeing equal educational opportunity for women and girls.

The panel discussion, Title IX: The Rocky Road to Progress for Women and Girls in Education, will be held at Calvert Library Prince Frederick, starting at 7:00 p.m. Calvert Library is located at 850 Costley Way, Prince Frederick, MD 20678  (410) 535-0291  (301) 855-1862. It is just off Route 2/4, in the shopping center across from Calvert Memorial Hospital.

The all-star Title IX panel will include:
  • County Commissioner Susan Shaw
  • Kim Roof, Calvert County Public Schools Director of Student Services
  • Robert Earl Radford, Northern Head Softball Coach (and proud Title IX Dad)
  • Gladys Pedersen Bowers, Calvert County High School Class of 1950 and Former Member of the US Marine Corps
  • Danielle Cummings, 2011 Graduate of Northern High School and Sophomore at Mount St. Mary's College (Softball Scholarship)
Each will tell his or her personal Title IX story.

Also, attached is information about our Proud Title IX Partners. Each has pledged enthusiastic support for Title IX and to undertake an activity before the end of 2012 to show this support.

Finally, attached are a PDF of the "Proud Title IX Partner Button" developed by Annmarie Garden and the poster for the June 25th panel developed by Calvert Library.

Please feel free to share this information. And I hope to see you next Monday!

Margaret
