Friends of Calvert Library host Pub Quiz on March 11 (press release)

The Friends of Calvert Library Spring Pub Quiz is back! On Friday, March 11, at 6:30pm, the doors will open for a night of fun and trivia.  For one night only, the library won’t help you find the answers. The Quizmaster is funny man Michael Gannon, ever popular in MD quiz circles and also the Chief Operating Officer for Support Services at Prince George’s County Memorial Library System.  He is also firmly in the camp of “Rule #1. The Quizmaster is always right!”  You must have a picture ID verifying that you are 21 or older to enter. Teams of up to six people can be registered through the Calvert Library’s online calendar at www.calvertlibrary.info. However, participation is first-paid, first-served, so come to any Calvert Library location and pay your stake so that your team will be ensured a spot in the competition. The fee is $60 per team or $75 at the door if there is still space available. There is a change this year in the prize structure. Instead of only one chance to win, there are three!  The first place team will win $120, second place wins $60 and third place wins $30. There is only space for 16 teams and 20 spectators. Spectators 21 and older can purchase their space ahead of time for $5. It promises to be a highly entertaining evening complete with free snacks, a cash bar, and fun raffles. Donations are welcome. There are lots of rules, some may even be made up on the spot(!), and the format is detailed on the Calvert Library website (www.CalvertLibrary.info).
