Who doesn’t love mini-golf? Friends of Calvert Library are bringing a mini-golf course to the library in Prince Frederick!  They are looking for help to do so.  Whether you have ideas for creating obstacles on the course, want to sponsor a hole, play a round or donate a silent auction item, there are opportunities for you to get involved.  After the library officially closes on Friday, September 23, teens will have a chance to help set up the golf course and be the first ones to play.  Then on Saturday, the course will be open at the price of $5/person (ages 6 and under free) from 11am to 4pm.  That evening, there will be an adult event complete with a silent auction, seated massage, photo booth and a 19th hole (that’s a bar if you aren’t a regular golfer).  Those tickets are $40/person.  Individuals or businesses who sponsor a hole can decorate the hole with items that will show off their business…perhaps a car repair shop will have a loop made from an old tire, an exhaust pipe to serve as a tunnel and maybe a bottle of motor oil to navigate around.

Calvert Library’s mission is to empower individuals by facilitating lifelong learning and to strengthen our community by providing opportunities for connection to one another and the world.  Friends of Calvert Library do much to advance this mission through purchasing supplies for library events and classes, paying for staff training, purchasing goodies like Kindle Fires to serve as inspiration to complete Summer Reading challenges, paying for the new summer reading software, financing volunteer appreciation events and more. They are able to do this because of strong support from local businesses and generous individuals.  This library mini-golf fundraiser will be a great way for those folks that support the library to be showcased in a lighthearted and compelling way.
