For March 2016, Calvert Library presents the work of 5 local artists exhibiting photography, watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media at 3 of our locations.
Calvert Library Twin Beaches Branch features photographer Faye Kepner’s show entitled “Raising the Barre,” depicting dancer Ana Collins. Faye started her photography career about 5 years ago; her work focuses on portraits of babies, children, families, seniors, and dancers. Faye found inspiration from her own father’s wedding photography business. Meet Faye Kepner, March 16, from 7- 8 PM at Twin Beaches. Faye’s work is showing March 1 – 31, 2016. To learn more the artist and her work, visit www.momentsbyfayephotography.com.
Artist Joshua Owen’s show at Calvert Library Prince Frederick runs through March 31. His show, “The Humble Setting,” features abstract acrylics on canvas. Joshua has loved painting since first being introduced to the work of Jackson Pollock. “…painting is so exciting that once I get started painting I often paint until I am out of canvas!” says Joshua, who has had both gallery and solo shows throughout Southern Maryland and in Los Angeles. Meet Joshua Owen, Saturday, March 26, 1-2 p.m. at Prince Frederick. To learn more about Joshua and his work, go to www.josh.artpickle.com.
At Calvert Library Southern Branch in Solomons, artists Karen Zuza and Peggy Hovermale present a group show of watercolors and mixed media. Their show at the Southern Branch runs through March 31. Karen Zuza painted her first watercolor, “Three Pears, Of Course” in 2005. With gratitude to her teacher, Mary Blumberg, Karen continues painting with watercolors which amaze her with their jewel-like luminous qualities. This is Karen’s first public exhibit. To see more of Karen’s work, go to www.zuzapaints.com>. Peggy Hovermale began painting in 2009 when artist Nancy Carver Thompson held an art demo for a group of friends. After painting her first seascape, Peggy was hooked! Abstracts with acrylics followed: “I love the freedom and flow of using that medium…Painting has become my passion!” Peggy has served as President of the Calvert Artists’ Guild, and exhibited at Annmarie Gardens, Asbury, and Artworks@7th. To learn more about the artist and her work, email Peggy at pjhovermale1@yahoo.com.
