Master Storyteller at Calvert Library (press release)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 7, 2013

Calvert Library continues to offer superb family entertainment.  To highlight the One Maryland One Book King Peggy, the Prince Frederick location will be hosting Master Storyteller Janice Curtis Greene on Saturday, October 26 at 2:00pm.  Greene is the author of Thema and the Wonderful Black Gourd which tells the story of a young girl in Ghana who has to grow up apart from her parents and learns to call upon her inner strength to accomplish great things.  The theme is closely tied to King Peggy’s story and Greene will share other traditional stories to bring King Peggy’s experience to life for all ages.  Participants will learn about African Storytelling traditions and be thoroughly entertained by this accomplished griot (a traveling poet/musician/storyteller who maintains the tradition of oral history in parts of Africa).

For more information, call Robyn Truslow at Calvert Library Prince Frederick at 410-535-0291 or 301-855-1862.
