Calvert Library Prince Frederick and Legal Aid Southern Maryland are hosting a Lawyer in the Library event on Friday, May 11 beginning at noon. Several lawyers from the Calvert Bar Association and Maryland Legal Aid will be on hand to help with civil legal issues such as expungements, housing issues, child custody and support, bankruptcy, wage claims, veterans’ benefits, debt collection and government benefits. Many community partners will also be on hand to help with resumes, job searching, treatment and recovery, healthy lifestyles, conflict resolution, youth intervention, vocational training and more. Partners include SoMD JobSource, Health Promotions and Healthy Beginnings from Calvert County Health Department, Tri-County Youth Service Bureau, Calvert County Community Mediation Center and Adult Basic Education from College of Southern Maryland, Calvert County Family Network and HITTS (Helping Inmates Transition to Society). There is no cost for this event. Lawyer services are available on a first-come, first-serve basis with no new sessions scheduled after 2pm. Partner resources will be available until 3pm.
